Am wondering how other builders organize their sticks, bits, and sheets. Here's a photo of mine which I am sure is pretty modest when compared to most.

Mine is much less organized. I keep anything bigger than a postage stamp!

I use the long kit boxes, or boxes from balsa suppliers. They are labled as follows: Sheets, Sticks, Triangles, Hardwood Sticks, Leading edges, trailing edges, Good quality ply, and light ply. Then I've got a miscellaneous box with scraps of all sizes which I am constantly pawing through......

For larger quantities of strip and sheet, I got a cardboard box that the local golfshop get golfsets delivered in. You can cut it down to 3 ft length or whatever suits. cheaper than buying a kit

I use old kit boxes...one for balsa stick and strips; another for sheeting; another for pushrods and the like, etc.

I know how that goes! Years ago when I was heavy into scratch building, I'd find wood everywhere. Got in the bad habit of stuffing sticks up in the floor joist braces! Out of the way, but out of sight and mind as well!

After discovering three old kit boxes full of brand new wood (not in kit form) that was stashed I realized that wasn't the best storage method.

Oh, the best redeeming value of an ARF ... a BIG box for storage or scratch-building wood.

If you have ARF boxes, you wouldn't need to store Balsa

Am wondering how other builders organize their sticks, bits, and sheets.

My pile is not huge. I have it flat on a table, some in an old kit box and some just on the table. I think having it on a fairly flat surface will keep it straighter than standing it on end but that may not be true.

Gary, that's just wrong. Labels??? Everything needs to be in one totally disorganized mess.

I picked up an old blueprint cabinet at an auction and use it for my balsa and rod storage. I was lucky enough to score an old monokote rack and Master Airscrew prop rack from an LHS that closed it's doors. I would've scored a balsa rack if he had one but no luck. The cabinet works pretty well except for wing skins over 48" long.

I built a rack with variuos size compartments that is attached to the ceiling beams. Used to do all scratch building so used lots of balsa so had compartments for each of the many sheet sizes . also have one similiar for Monocote. Have wood and Monocote some of which is from 40 years ago. Been building for 65 years now so not much I don't have. Guess I could say this is a hobby that can be very addictiveHa. I'm now 84 and still at it.

You would know I need to keep balsa in my ARF boxes if you saw how I fly! I have built/assembled all types. Still building from bits of balsa is the most fun.
