It's all about control, controlling the great unwashed masses... and the greatest weapon they have is fear... fear of the unknow boggyman!
Ol' Barry S' was in Oslo recently pickin' up his Peace Prize (that in itself should answer all doubts that it's all some insane global circus).
The visual security was overwhelming, snipers rooftops, coppers hovering low over the Nobel center, road blocks, police, guns FBI dudes..... and me!
I, together with a photographer and his team where taking photographs for a corporate brochure in the house next door... I mean attached to... the Noble Center!
We where carrying in case after case (a transporter full) of lamps and equipment in big metal flight cases... never questioned once. The two buildings are nexted door to each other, share the same cellar... hello.
We shot late into the night, had to occassionally stop when the over head coppers with searchlights ruined the set... not to mention kept the local residents awake in fear... then we left. No questions, no problems.It's just a joke chaps... like naked body scanners. Those of you that flew... I salute you!

Status: offline 		I think it was a worthy topic for the board. Pete was just posting an FYI to his fellow flyers. Texas is big RC warbird country, afterall! It's not his fault that everyone decided to weigh in with their political views and explode the thread.

He's absolutely right: making some sort of political statement by flying your RC planes in airspace reserved for Air Force One is dangerous and reckless to our hobby. You're asking for unwanted attention, and inviting further regulation and limitation to our sport.

By admitting this on this public forum you have invited the Feds to

1. Demand all records of your posts, email address and information from RCU
2. Basically shake down the clubs in the area to give you up ( don’t think anyone would protect you because they won’t. I don’t care how good of friends they are)

Man I just have to chalk this up to poor judgment and hope the Feds don’t read this for your sake. It’s not about who was on that plane it’s about the position they hold.

After some thought I have to take back the last sentence. What I should have said is “You solute the rank not the man.”

21 nautical miles from MBT to KBNA pretty good possibility for a NOTAMS.

And no, kites do not fall under this restriction.

Status: offline 		They aren't taking away your Freedom with these things. They are simply saying you can't have your plane in the air for a little while. Gee darn. You still have the Freedom to do any other part of the hobby. You can build, you can fix, you can clean off that residue... You still have the freedom to do any other hobby. (You do have other hobbies, right?) Does anyone else in your family have a hobby you can show interest in for a couple of hours? This isn't a removal of your Rights. They are momentarily putting up a stoplight in order to ensure the safety of one of the leaders of our country (or the leader of another country, since they tend to visit us from time to time) during his or her travels. Is it silly to ground toy airplanes? Yes. Is it necessary? Probably not. Are they cutting into a nice afternoon best spent at the field? Potentially. Is this a violation of our Freedom? Not at all. It's simply an inconvenience.
