When I check mine, it reads almost 14volts right after taking off the charger. You should use one of the wall-plug variety, at about 600Mah. Usually overnight is sufficient. I haven't done the math on this one to figure rate/time. I just put overnight. No biggie. What is biggie though, is when hooking charger up to battery. Connect leads to battery FIRST, then plug charger in wall. When disconnecting, unplug wall FIRST, then disconnect leads. Doing in this order will prevent you from shorting your charger out. If the leads from charger touch when plugged in, I think it toasts your charger. Chargers are about $14 a piece, I went through a few of them.

After a few hours off charge your battery should read about 12.7 volts if fully charged ? !!

12.7 is a bit low, more like 13.0 volts fully charged.

Get an ACE CVC charger and your troubles are over. It will bring your battery up to voltage and then go on trickle.

I have hook-ups in my truck and it charges at 14.5 and when I get to the field, it reads 12.9

If I remember correctly, a 12 volt battery under no-load will read from 13 volts fully charged and 12 volts empty
