Flew my TF P-40 for the 1st time today the airplane flew great!!!! a bit tail heavy tho and required some rt aileron trim otherwise everything went smoothly. The OS .91 Surpass FS I installed pulls the airplane like a 4 lb. sport plane. man does it go! it is a floater unlike my original. anyway take care

That's great to hear. BTW, have you determined what your final weight was? I'm curious to see at what point a good flying TF P-40 "floater" becomes a "sinker"..

Thanks.

Hello Inorris!
it is 10 lbs. on the nose ( literally lol ) it jumped right off with a little up elevator the .91 Surpass swinging a master airscrew
"K series 16x6" (yup 16x6 works great!) pulls it like a 4 # sport plane on a good .46 It is very sensitive in pitch and yaw because of the Huge rudder and elevator (1/2" of up elevator is almost too much) I hope to tame it a bit with the addition of some nose weight since it tends to the tail heavy side when the gear is cleaned up. (checked the CG Gear up and it is at the Plans location) I also used a retractable tail wheel (can't stand the tailwheel hanging if it is supposed to retract LOL) so that put some weight aft of the CG. I can't imagine how insane this airplane would be with the 1.20 surpass the plans call for. It is truly a "60" size airplane with todays engine technology. Btw my original p-40 with an OS 1.08 weighed in at 13#s ready to fly. It flew well but was a Tank!
Take care and good luck with yours!
