I'm using a Hitec Feather micro Reciever and I lost about 7 inches of wire at the end from it getting caught in the HB gear. Will they effect anything? Can i still use it and the range will still be far?

Actually, radios are kinda picky about antenna length. It is a fraction of the actual wavelength of the radio wave so they are tuned to a difference. You'll probably lose a good bit of range. You might be able to improve your range by halving the length of the antenna which would half the wavelength. (half the original length that is) Or you could graft some new wire onto it, just make sure it's very close to the original length.

I think they are normally 20cm long. I could be wrong but if you check the specs on your reciever it should be easy to find out.

Good Luck,
