Status: offline 		E-flite is supposed to have 60-90 sized electric retracts comin' out I thought. They would be cool, a lot less support gear req'd.

i'm not real fond of Robart, especially since they ripped off Spring Air for the air up, spring down design.
i own and use SA in all my retract equipped planes, and have never had a problem, plus the comparable Robarts are always heavier for some reason.

I have a Great Planes Patriot kit if you are interested. It is NIB. It looks a bit like an F-20 tigershark. I'm asking $130.00 plus shipping.

So much for the $100 clams.

Anyways as for retracts I would think the new EFLG330 would be a option. I hope their available soon as I would like to take advantage of that Horizon Coupon ASAP!

Status: offline 		that price is pretty much on par for them nowadays..........when i bought the ones i did they were being listed like they were in hobby shops. 3 per week for a while. now it's hard to find one at all.

Status: offline 		Regarding the retracts for the Jackal, the wing thickness at the rear edge of the main gear mount is only 1 1/16" deep so if your gear meets this and has similar mounting dimensions to the footprint of a Robart unit then you should be able to adapt them to fit. The E-flite (60 -120) retracts use the same mounting dimension as the comparable Robart units, but the E-flite units have a wire that comes out of the top of the gear and you will have to either remove some of hte wood sheeting in the area above this wire or you will need to space the gear off the mounting rails 1/16" The E-flite 25-40 size gear should be more than adequate from a strngth standpoint, but hteseus a smaller foot print, so you would need add some material to the inner edges of the mounting rails.


It sure is strange how the only thing most took away from my post was the spinner cost at 30.00. This spinner was included because we felt that it finished off the model and provided a good quality solution for you guys.

in the past i would never consider using a stock supplied spinner (especially GP aluminum spinners), but like i said earlier, the H9 spinner i bought for my P-51 totally blew me away.............very good quality.

thx for the info on the wing thickness. i'm sure i can fit my SA's in there.

also, knowing that Mike designed the Pat and this one sure adds confidence in it's flying abilities

Status: offline 		Hello Bill, i also think you made a good decision to include the spinner. For some less fortunate modelers that live on the other side of the pond like me, it is not economical to order just a spinner from the US. I like that the plane is complete in that respect. I also like that the plane is ready for retracts as this minimizes the need to cut into perfectly good covering!

All & all i see this plane as a hit. I am sure many jet wannabees will use this platform for practice and for their turbine wavier (just ad more weight in the plane & program a delay on the throttle) .

I can see a trend for Hangar 9 and other companies to try to find a niche market for their planes instead of just putting on the market another 3D fluo plane. BRAVO!

As for some neisayers in this forum, i wouldn't lose any sleep over it if i were you

Status: offline 		i don't see 130mph anywhere.......but i'm being optimistic in getting it to at least 140mph.

nothing in the online manual about speed either, although on page 2 it lists the wingspan at 63 inches with 690 square inches of wing area.
proof will be from whoever gets the first one and puts it in the air.

like vasek said thogh, nice to see an ARF maker who realizes that there are other crowds besides the 3D guys.
can only stay interested in 3D for a few minutes..........put a bird like this in the air, and i'm watchin start to finish.

The market is SATURATED with EDFs right now.

Nothing says you CAN"T convert it to electric however. Your just going to be on your own, thats all.

Status: offline 		my worries are as bad ass as this bird will be it wont be available for me to buy whenever i get back from my deployment. hope i can talk someone into having one on delivered to my house. i just feel that they will be sold out by time i get back. its happened many times before. especially with some hangar 9 birds.... wait they are either out of stock or discontinued. oh not to mention the extra 260 from n/p i have been wiating on that for ever. i really hope i get a chance to get one of these up in the air before they are gone.

by the way i noticed that the f-22 is no longer on hangar 9's website. case in point. oh well

hope i can get that jackal. and hope more companies offer propjets and keep them for sale alot longer. im getting tired of not getting my hands on some of these aircrafts. thanks alot u.s. army

Did Mike McConville also design the Patriot 40 ARF? I think if you want to compare apples to apples... thats the version of the Patriot the Jack should be compared to.

buying them aftermarket is always an option, but we both know the hazards of cutting Carbon Fiber.
it isn't hard to do with the right equipment either.
we also know how much weight was saved just on the wing tube alone with our SD's right?

it would be better to include these items in the kits now even it adds a few more bucks to the kit. it shouldn't be much though, but would surely save at least a 1/4 lb, and be much stronger to boot.
