the 56 is an animal............if you try to order the 60LX, Dub will inform you that he is building you a 56. for some reason the website is not updated yet, but Bob will also give you every tip on running the new engine. great customer support i call it[:D] my 56 is still on the breakin run with 1 gallon run thru it now, but is turning a 9x8apc at 18,400 peaked. the torque that this engine produces turns the 9x8 like it's just a toothpick. this airplane should really scream with this combo. buying them aftermarket is always an option, but we both know the hazards of cutting Carbon Fiber.
it isn't hard to do with the right equipment either.
we also know how much weight was saved just on the wing tube alone with our SD's right?

it would be better to include these items in the kits now even it adds a few more bucks to the kit. it shouldn't be much though, but would surely save at least a 1/4 lb, and be much stronger to boot.

The jackal will weigh in closer to 9 lbs when completed, closer to that of the Cermark f16 prop jets. Can we expect the 56 to perform as well with this weight? I do agree about the 56 on a sundowner, I've seen it myself..but not sure about the performance of the 56 on the jackal...i think I will go with the 90LX with an 11x8 prop. This turns 16K for me on the bench.....either way I will wait until others have ventured and report back before I act... For the record, I have the 56 on my weston magnum...unbelievable (18600 with 9x8 APC)...but the magnum is a very light airframe...

9LBs is heavy isn't it? isn't the Prototype using a 60NX something or other? wonder if ity pulls it vertical

My patriot XL weighed 9lbs and and my Jett 90L flew it with authority, if this thing is 9lbs a 90 would be what I'd be using, my Juno F-20 I'm flying right now weighs 5lbs and I use a Jett60LX in it w/ a apc 9X8 and love it, but I don't know about the 56 in a 9lb airframe geesh.[:-]

Anyone got an idea when retracts will be in???? Horizon has not gotten back to me..but that would be bad to have the plane and fixed gear for a year

as far as the engine i ordered a jett 56lx today... i hope i didnt make a mistake??? in the video they have a Evolution .60NX seems to be doing good... we know how videos can be... im sure the jett will put out alot more the than the .60nx . so maybe it will be fast.. im new to nitro so help is much needed.. i do want to go fast !!!!!!! so with the 56lx what prop should i look to be running ??? i seen 9x8 so will that be big enough ???? now the retracts.... i want be flying with fixed gear.. so when the jackal comes in then i gess i will go from there.. i was looking to go with the robarts Progressive Pneumatic.. if they are not out looks like it maybe the e-flite... what about these... will this work ? http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7996 http://www.robart.com/products/pneumatic-tri-gear-set-consists-605hd-607 thanks for all the help.... robby

Since the 56LX is quite new I am not sure what prop is recommended for this engine.

the note that Dub sent with my 56 was to start with 10x6, 9x8, 9x9. the info Bob27 gave me when i first inquired about the 56 was that this engine is a long rod version and packs more torque along with the rpms of it's previous model. he wasn't kidding about the torque either. with a 9x8 it punches out of the hole like "right now" and it still looks like there is more to get as after breakin it is now spinning the 9x8 at 18,400 in a Sundowner installation that includes a spacer between the pipe and engine of which Bob has posted will cost a couple hundred rpm. in regards to a previous post about using the 90LX, i was thinking the same, but it will add 8 ounces more to the nose in this plane...........if everyone thinks the Jackal will come out to 9lbs with the small block engine, think of where it will end up with another 8 ounces in the nose and whatever weight it will take to balance. i want to fly and enjoy this plane, not be on pins and needles when trying to land it.

!#@$%!%!% Ordered all my stuff for mine today...Got the electric retracts from Eflite. Gonna try em out on this bird. Gonna keep everything in the box un opened incase this plane gets pushed back to 2012, by then the world will be over and I will just need my credit from Horizon. LMAO

Do not use the standard or metal gear 225's the digital ones are just fine but the standard ones do not center very well, draw high amps, burn out very quickly and while burning out will sometimes go to full deflection before complet burn out then start working normal again.

I ordered a set of these for the Phoenix7 but thats a bigger plane , I think they may be a little heavy for this one . You might have to do a little calculation here.
