Ian.W -> Project Cougar Bodge (7/27/2003 8:25 PM)

So, here we are, just over 3 days into the summer holidays and I bored. So, what do i do. I find a knife, introduce it to my old cougar and rip the covering off :p

"Now what do i do", i ask myself. "i know i'll BODGE IT" :D :D :D

So i cut a hole in the top of the wing. put a few tows across the grain and WALHA. I sorvo hole in the top of the wing :stupid:

Ian.W -> PCB part 2 (7/27/2003 8:29 PM)

Then i covered 1/2 of the wing, then i run out of the covering.

The clear blue will ber lined with dark red.

I know it looks a little tatty now, but before you know it it'll be PROPER BO!

Ian.W -> PCB part 3 (7/27/2003 8:35 PM)

Now the whole point of this 'project cougar bodge' is to make a plane with the cg as far back as possible!

So where to put the elvator servo?

Well here.

Ian.W -> PCB part 4 (7/27/2003 8:36 PM)

I'll keep you informed

Ian.W -> PCB part 5 (7/28/2003 1:39 AM)

Not much done :( rud servo in.

Also ive kept my options opento make a bolt on wing :rolleyes:

I cant cover to save myself, :idea:i may get someone to do it for me

Ian

Welsh3D -> Project Cougar Bodge (7/28/2003 2:53 AM)

hmm.. a friend of mine put his battery down the fuz quite far, maybe about half of the moment. The plane was an absolute dog, only thing it would do nicely was a bunt! With the cg moved forward it is now quite a machine.... u wanna see the flat spins!

Ian.W -> PCB part 6 (7/28/2003 2:15 PM)

Im now gonna scrap the bolt on wing.

Nathan: Well, ive got anouther cougar 2000, this is a kit version which i bought 2nd hand for 25 quid :)
So, im going to experiment............LOL :D

Its qutie heavy compared to the ARTF version. Not half as good.

I'll be doing it over the entire holiday, so im not goin to rush it :stupid:

I'm goin to get some mor covering today.

Ian

Welsh3D -> Project Cougar Bodge (7/28/2003 3:36 PM)

Ok, nothing to lose then :) Keep us all updated when it flies in particular!

Ian.W -> PCB part 7 (7/28/2003 11:44 PM)

Whent down to the local model shop today. Choose some colour (yes colour, NOT color :stupid: )

They're all solarfilm,

Clear blue over the ribs

Dark red sorounding the Blue (top)

Flurecent green sorounding the blue (bottom)

Heres a pic, the colours aren't cuite rite in the photo

Ian

Ian.W -> PCB question (7/28/2003 11:46 PM)

What do you thing if i chop the tips off the wing?

Ian.W -> PCB part 8 (7/31/2003 11:12 PM)

Found a new place for the elv. servo, right at the back!

Ian.W -> PCB part 9 (7/31/2003 11:15 PM)

I round a space for the rudder servo aswel :cool:

Ian.W -> PCB part 10 (7/31/2003 11:18 PM)

Heres the outher half of the wings ribs covered.

Ian.W -> PCB part 11 (7/31/2003 11:19 PM)

Now, i chop the tips

Ian.W -> PCB part 12 (7/31/2003 11:22 PM)

And this is what it looks like

PS can you yell wich wing was cover with a proper iron

cabanestrut2002 -> Project Cougar Bodge (8/12/2003 5:07 AM)
Now, i chop the tips
thats a yankee trick, i dont know why they do it!!
less wing area and more drag, the tips make the ailerons more effective
I cant cover to save myself,
jeesus, you aint wrong!!!
Found a new place for the elv. servo, right at the back!
nice idea, direct linkage. put your servo grommet in the right way up!(rolled end toward the mount)
PS can you yell wich wing was cover with a proper iron
i dont know what youre talking about ;)

Ian.W -> Project Cougar Bodge (8/12/2003 3:58 PM)

LOL

The servo whole in the ing is now gone and i have now attached bolt on cannards

Cactus. -> Project Cougar Bodge (8/12/2003 6:04 PM)

CANNARDS!!!!!! on a Cougar?! :rolleyes:

Ian.W -> Project Cougar Bodge (8/12/2003 6:08 PM)

Yeh, LOL :p

There just behind the UC and under the wing. There detachabe so i can take em off if i need to :D

Cactus. -> Project Cougar Bodge (8/12/2003 6:12 PM)

then they aint cannards you've got a biplane LOL

Ian.W -> Project Cougar Bodge (8/12/2003 6:14 PM)

I'll send in a pic sometime!

cabanestrut2002 -> Project Cougar Bodge (8/13/2003 3:25 AM)

if they are under the wing, they are not canards!

why dont you make a cougar canard.
put the wing on backwards and c of g three quarters of the way between the wing and tail towards the tail-if that makes sense.

put the tail on bacckwards and buy a pusher prop.
dont forget to turn the tank around so it flys forward.
mount the undercart back to front, ie mains at the tail 'end' and a long skid for prop clearance at the wing end.

not too much throws on elevator. give it a go, i might try it soon- i got some ideas!!

Archie -> Project Cougar Bodge (8/13/2003 3:32 AM)

oh no.. please dont encourage him !!.... :(

cabanestrut2002 -> Project Cougar Bodge (8/13/2003 3:39 AM)

its a shame we got those threads closed down, seems like double standards sometimes with the amount of advertising here.

getting some of those s3010 servos for the rud/elev of the catfish.
6.5kg @ .16 seconds. ripmax price £23

Ian.W -> Project Cougar Bodge (8/13/2003 1:18 PM)

I can get em for the price of JR 591s :p

I wont try that canard cougar. I dont need to wrek any more planes doing inverted prophanging. ive have just bought the Doctors Piper Cub for this.

i supose i could make i T tail cougar.

Send in some ideas.

Ian :stupid:
