Status: offline 		Mine fried on just 4s, I would not push it.  If you are going to order more LiPo's I would get them so you have more like 5000mAh

I would also get the Turnigy 120A or 180A ESC.  If I am lucky I will get mine setup and on the lake today.

Status: offline 		If you want your Genesis fast use 2x3S 5000mAh serial, good 1500kV motor and Seaking 180A esc.  2x4S batteries with 1200kV motor will be better but an esc working on 8S is more expensive.
An other issue is to build a twin setup, 4S, 5S or 6S per motor

Status: offline 		A dual setup would be nice, but the hulls we got from HK already have holes in them and a single setup.  At this point I think it is going for the most fun (read as speed) with the stock guts.

Yours should be pretty sweet once you get that stuff setup!!!

Status: offline 		I spent some time checking over the boat, and cleared some rough edges around the water pickup on the rudder.  I think that was preventing good water flow on my initial run.  That caused the ESC to over heat and blow.  Got the water cooling routed and the Turnigy 180A ESC installed.

I hit the water this morning, first run lasted about 8-10 minutes before I hit LVC at 3.2v/cell.  Boat ran great, and everything stayed cool, under 150F.

Second run I swapped out the prop for an "upgrade" The blue plastic turnigy ones from HK.  They look nice, but the one I used had a bad mold and I lost a blade.  Didn't hit anything, just came off from the force.  And then the vibration knocked loose the set screw on the motor collet (I think thats the term, part coupling the motor shaft to flex cable)

I need to replace the set screw as it is crap and all striped out.  I cant get it tight.  Once I find a replacement I will try making a flat spot on the motor shaft as well.  I don't want to remove the motor again as all the hardware holding it in is also crap, and the heads might strip out.

So, not great news, but only minor problems.  I need to spend some time sealing the boat a little more as it is taking on some water every run.  Once it is working great with the stock prop, I will look into getting some different metal props to try out.

Top speed today was 64.8km/h.  The boat porpoises pretty bad at top speed.  I moved the batteries all the way forward, but it didn't help much.  I think it just slowed the boat down.

I need to look into tuning with the strut and rudder.

I'll get some video and pictures next time.

That should be a great setup with 5S in each transom, the boat will be more stable. More weight can be an advantage with a catamaran hull and high torque motor

Status: offline 		Rebel Bay pulled some kind of scam to get one, but I think it was a one time deal kind of thing.  The way it comes is ok, but the hardware (set screws) are pretty cheap.  I think the actual rudder, motor mount, stand off bracket, and other parts are pretty good.  It's just the hex key bolts and grub/set screws, they are ALL crap.  At least thats the case with mine.

I just mean, as far as any everyday hobbyist goes, they are not available.  You however knew someone, or something, and some how jumped through some hoops and got one as a bare hull.

Thanks for sharing your work on the Genisis cat hull.
I have two of these hulls, one completely “untouched” and one from HK with the duel motor setup. I’m still not sure what to do with the virgin hull.. I am, however, concerned that it needs some serious reinforcement before I push this boat to 100 kpm.
I like your selection. By my calculation the prop rpm is around 32,000 with the noted setup.. Since you’re running two motors I would expect you would be running more toward 90 kph.
I also thought that if you are running at these speeds you need a metal prop. Forget plastic.. I’d suggest a 445 to start or in this range.

It' s not necessary to reinforce the Genesis, this hull is very strongly made. If you want to put carbon do it where powertrims and rudder are installed. 
A PBS Passau member in Germany build a twin without reinforcing the hull. The setup is unusual: 2 x Scorpion 3026 1400kV, 2 x Seaking 80A High voltage esc's and 7S battery (3S + 4S serial)

RPM unload is around 35000 : 5 x 3,7 x 1850. Don' t forget that with a twin setup each propeller helps the other. The Genesis hull is very well designed like a Mystic. Perfect

 

For a twin setup powertrims must be more than 10cm long or you can modify the hull like this




Those powertrims are designed for a twin setup Genesis but I don' t know where they are available

Status: offline 		PS: Propellers choice is limited :Octura X442 or X447; ABC propellers or HOPF/Tenshock propellers.
I' m waiting for a set of 42mm HOPF CNC Aluminium Props 3 blades, those are balanced just need to be sharpened, they aren' t ewpensive
