Panzertroyer (Jagdpanther II)
I am starting to build one of the JP2 paper panzer concepts. I have an upper hull kit from Cris Ludwig and have gathered in parts and all available info on this concept vehicle. Mine will use the E-50 or Panther II baseline hull as shown at the Patton museum with KT components plus some JP components , seven axles and steel wheels. Mine will be similar but different from the artist concept shown below as Cris's kit has a longer casement or fighting compartment.. I have ordered in a bunch of Tamiya Panther and KT parts to fill out my parts box. I am using Schumo gear boxes and braces. Still have not decided if i will use Mato "Pantiger" (panther like but has a different width between sprocket teeth then the correct Panther), track since i have some, but the Asiatam KT transport tracks and KT sprockets are also in consideration. I have an extra 128MM barrel from Wechoe. The traverse and lift will be home made. I am salvaging some hatches and vents from some discarded old projects. Other stuff is still to be determined. So here we go.

RE: Panzertroyer (Jagdpanther II)
It's a tank forum, and it is, or was to have been, a tracked anti-tank weapon, right? I don't think it inappropriate to post a build thread.
From a different stand point, while I can't specifically say why, the first thing that struck me looking at the Jagdpanther II here http://www.themotorpool.net/German-S.../gas48602m.htm is that it has a striking familiarity, like modern self-propelled guns or something. Without looking up some pictures of things like the Paladin (ok, I had to: http://www.murdoconline.net/wp-conte...03/paladin.jpg) I would say that while not completed, the Germans were obviously on to something in the design, even if it turned out that the tank destroyer concept wouldn't last...obviously SP guns have.

Well i got a small start on it this week fabricating the engine deck and modifying a Wechoe JT mantlet. i am mostly in mock up form for the time being. I am not sure if i am using a Tamiya JP lower hull or making a new one. The movement of the swing arms was to be opposite of the Panther and KT.

Hi kclank Here is my version of the Jagdpanther II (supplied by Christian),Mine is based on a Panther IIlower hull ,I also Have a Panther G upper and making a panther F upper for the lower hull, along with my standard Jagdpanther ,it means I can swop the uppers from one to the other, means I can make up 7 different models from the two lower hulls .

Hi Had it out for a run at the meeting we had earlyer this month It was good fun,It has Mato 4:1 gearboxes with little black cap motors ,found them a little bit underpower, so have spent two days redoing the gearbox mounts ,now have enough room to get Speed 400 motors in (just),hope fully itwont be stopped when it gets a few hits (well hope i can pivot)still to test it.It Does have torquenow ,Still have to finish my Panther F ,waiting for some bits.will post photos of all the models when I have finished them.
Will watch your build ,I didnt have any problems with the kit from Christian, thinking of getting another from him,Cromwell or the Elephant,I like them both problems problems might haveto get both.
regards pete

RE: Panzertroyer (Jagdpanther II)
I have been out killing small woodland creatures and have just got back to work on my JP II. here are some pics of the suspension. Since I am basing my lower hull on the Panther II, I had to accommodate a weird spacing on my rear wheel positions. The Pntr II only has 7 road wheel positions on each side (Panthers had 8 positions). One position just in front of the rear road wheel replaces 2 positions typical for the panther. For reference, I included a picture of the Panther II hull that is (was) in the Patton museum at Fort Knox.

Added wheels, sprockets and track today. Not tested yet as as there is some interference with the track and the upper hull. lots of work to do yet.

Here are a few updates on my project. I am about 60% complete. Lots of detail work and mechanisms to do yet. I like taking photos as it shows up all the flaws and helps me concentrate on fixing them as i go. hope you enjoy.
