Default Vintage Sterling Models Supermarine Spitfire Control Line Stunt-Scale Kit

The British Supermarine Spitfire is considered one of the greatest fighter designs of all time. There is no doubt that the Spitfire was instrumental in turning back Hitler's Luftwaffe in the 'Battle of Britain' as the Germans attempted to conquer the British Isles. Churchill famously referred to the Spitfire pilots when he said 'Never before in the history of modern warfare have so many owed so much to so few'. The Spitfire and it's pilots were 'The Few', and are still revered to this day.

This VINTAGE kit is a very rare control line model kit of that fabulous fighter by Sterling Models. The kit is new-in-box and complete. Sterling designed this Spit as a control line stunt-scale model. The model preserves the fabulous fighter outline and elliptical wing of the Spitfire, and increases the wing area for responsive aerobatic performance. The kit features inter-notched parts that self-jig, a full-length carved fuselage top and other shaped parts, cleanly die cut ribs, bulkheads, & tail surfaces. All of the balsa and ply parts are made from contest-grade wood sanded to micro tolerances. Finally, formed landing gear, genuine silkspan, a crystal-clear canopy, and a complete hardware kit are included. Detailed, easy to read plans and step-by-step instructions ensure that you build a perfect model. The included authentic British decals show some wear (cracks) from age, but should be usable.

The model will span 52 ½ ", is 33 ½ long, and was originally designed for .29-.35 nitro engines. While a purist may want to preserve this rare kit as the control line model it was intended to be, an experienced, creative modeler could certainly convert this kit to an R/C model, and power options could include a .70ish 4-stroke nitro engine, or, yeah, a .32-.46 size electric system..... and hmmm...., maybe even flaps and retracts?

Whatever you choose, you can be sure that you will have a very unique model that no one else will have. The best thing is.....it's a Spitfire!!

Buyer pays shipping from 94505. Weight is 3lbs, 8oz, package dimensions are 28x7x3 inches.

Thanks for Looking!
