That's how many successful flights you've had! LOL!!!!! [sm=biggrin.gif]
Just kidding, Tim. I sent you a PM using my other screen name, but realized I will be using this one from now on. Just said, Hi.

every post has "rate this post" at the top...users can rate the posts and you can accumulate points. this helps to build up reputations for users so you get an idea of how well respected one is inside the community. gimmicky but fun and useful too...try it out..somebody rate this post on me to offset my -2

I was able to rate several your posts, I gave 2 on all' had you up to 4 but could not rate the same post twice.
I don't think that will work out too well, with out some sort of reason for rateing some one negative.

I like the idea. It gives a way to reward those who help out. I think Mods should be immune only because they will take more heat than the rest of us. That may solve the comment above about negative points.

It's just a meaningless number. Where's there any potential for abuse? What are you going to do if you see someone with a negative score? It's not like Ebay where a negative feedback rating actually means something.

Matt Kirsch
May be worthwhile if guidelines were given, but right now with the lack of the GBU and Karma only in the Market, it sets a mind to wondering.

The idea is to give credibility to the right people because their advice worked, didn't work, their post was meaningless, or becuase you agree and like what they had to say. It's not meant to be a rating system to end all rating systems, but is a tool if used properly will help determine credibility.
This came from the complaint that there are good contributers and bad contributers. Sometimes it would be nice to know what others thought of this persons advice or posts in the past. If it becomes too much of a joke and people don't use it as it's intended I'm sure we could remove it without too much difficulty.
Hope that explains it a little...

I too think it is dumb. You tick someone off, and like the guys going back on all marcs posts to give him a pos number, you tick one off and he goes to all your other posts and gives you a neg. Noone knows who if giving the neg feedback so if you post a lot like I do, someone is bound to not like something you do and go back and give you a ton of negs. It is meaningless.

RE: What does the score mean?
It seems to me that users of RCU have no trouble figuring out what post are useful and which aren't. I don't think you need a scoring system, especially one that has such potential for abuse. Now if you made users accountable for their rating by means of a reason, that might be different. But I still think we could do without it.
GBU was a lot more useful.
My pennies worth.

RE: What does the score mean?
This doens't feel right. I agree, it is kinda fun, I just go the the same post and make it jump 2, then take it away, and take away 2 more. Boy if I really want to be mean, I can go to all the posts and really make the numbers dwindle or inflate. I can have a lot of fun if I'm mean and don't have a life.
My score looks like my portfolio rating on this mornings NASDAQ report.

RE: What does the score mean?
I allways thought RCU stood for all things positive, now it seems RCU seems to think a person with a negitave score is not to be trusted with providing correct information. If this the case Marc you have failed the test as your minus score indicates. This scoring has no redeaming qualities.

RE: What does the score mean?
If they're going to keep it, then I would suggest going to something like Amazon. Rate 1 to 5, and present it as an average, with the number of ratings, something like:
Score: 4.7 (344 ratings)
Currently, there's no real way of knowing how many ratings there were, which makes it a little hard to know what it means other than more is more, or less is less. Knowing you couldn't make huge swings in the average might cut down on the silliness of someone rating a person's every post just to see the number move.
I kind of agree with Taildrager that the negative ratings don't serve much use, and invite childishness. Also, why would anybody ever give something a zero rating, since it does nothing? (As opposed to giving a 3 on a scale of 1 to 5, which does have an effect.)

RE: What does the score mean?
You will notice the score is now 'BY-BY'. It was a really nice idea, but was turning into a 'negative' slap in the face. We thought it would be cool, but it wasn't working so the score plug has been pulled.
