LiPo charging between heats?
Greetings All,
I have looked at most of the forum headlines and found only one other person ask the same question but he didn't get an answer, so I am asking again.
Can an electric racer use a single LiPo pack in a single night of racing?
I mean could you run a heat, top off or recharge the same pack, run another heat, repeat then the Main?
What kind of time would I be looking at for re-peaking or topping off the pack?
Would a high mah pack be better, other than longer run times, over a pack with lesser mah but enough run time for the Main race?
RCCA magazine's 2008 Buyer's Guide says,
"LiPo packs are fine with being raced and charged many times a day.
So instead of needing three packs for two heats and a Main, you can buy and run just one LiPo pack per car." (page 47)
Thanks in advance,
Dzgruntld

RE: LiPo charging between heats?
Yes you can do this. As far as how long it would take to do it, well that depends how much you take out of the pack. We have many racers using our 6000 packs and a lot will run the qualifiers on one pack without topping off. They then run a second pack for the main. I have even had some guys go as far as 3 qualifiers and a main on a 6000.

RE: LiPo charging between heats?
JAM MaxAmps ,
Thanks for the reply.
If it would help any I am looking at 1/10 off-road trucks, Losi or Associated
and going to a brushless motor. Two 4-5 minute qualifiers and a 7-8 minute Main.
Would that help in determining what size in MAH pack to use?
I would realy like to try to run one pack,
(unless reality steps in and bites me),
One pack = $$, Two = $$$$$$$
Thanks in advance,

Look at the 7.4 volt 6000 it's the same size as a 6 cell stick pack but alot lighter and as I said 40 minutes of continuous runtime is possible. It's a very popular pack.
