Need multi-rotor expert to join crazy project
JPL[/b]
(Joint Peckish Laboratories)
A team of two is looking for an R/C expert (both aerial and ground) to join our ridiculous project.
In summary:
We will deploy a rover to Flushing, Queens where the best soup dumplings in New York can be found. Ultimately the rover will acquire one dumpling in its holding bay, and return safely to ‘base.’ This project is inspired by JPL’s Mars Science Laboratory.
How we plan to do it:
We think we should use a multi-rotor aerial platform (Sky Crane) to deploy our rover (Curiosity) outside of one Chinese restaurant in Flushing. Once deployed, the rover will enter the restaurant with a note (written or audio) and sufficient money to purchase one dumpling. Once the wait staff places the dumpling as instructed onto the holding bay of the rover, it will drive to a meeting point outside of the restaurant. The aerial platform will re-unite with the rover, re-attach to it, and return it, and its payload to our staging ground (an abandoned lot nearby).
What we’re looking for:
A person with some serious R/C chops. Especially multi-rotor platforms. Perhaps this person is also skilled with hacking an R/C land vehicle, or knows someone who does who is interested in joining the team as well? We prefer to work with someone who knows what they’re doing, rather than buying expensive equipment and immediately destroying it due to our inexperience.
We have unlimited enthusiasm, and access to a 3D printer if we need to create custom pieces for this project.
Most importantly: Yes, we are serious.
