Default Quad for general Video

I've been playing with a friends phantom vision 2+ and it seems pretty amazing. The video quality is impressive along with image stabilization. I like the idea of GPS routes and fixes too, but haven't messed with that yet.

Anyway I'm tossing around the idea of getting a quad, but have been out of the hobby loop for a couple of years so I'm not sure which would be the best value for me. The 2+ would suit me just fine, but looking at saving a few bucks if I could.

I have a DX7 and a DX8 along with a GoPro Hero.

Is there a way to get Phantom 2 characteristics, but using my own Tx and Camera for less than the purchase price of a Phantom 2+?
What should I be looking at?

Thanks in advance,

The Quanum Nova is a less expensive choice.

And there are ebay sellers that have DJI F450 ARF models.

I have an F450 and it's one of my favorite quads for doing video and photos.

Thanks.

is this the right forum for quads? Doesn't seem to have too much activity.
