***New Product*** USB Smart LiPo Charger 1-6 Cell
The Thunder series LiPo Charger is one of today's most advanced form of battery charging. For the advanced user, the Thunder smart charger INCLUDES a PC based program that can analyze the characteristic of the battery through the computers USB port. The software will graph voltage, current, capacity and temperature curves. It also shows the individual voltages of each cell in the Lithium battery pack. When charging or discharging, the smart charger offers an AUTO function that sets the feeding current or the cell count of the Lithium battery automatically. For Lithium batteries, this can prevent an over-charging situation which can lead to an explosion should the user not set the program correctly. Every program in the unit is programmed with safety monitoring to validate the user information to ensure maximum safety. These parameters can be set by the user. The smart charger also can monitor and balance individual cells of the Lithium battery pack during the discharge process, as well as the charge process. If the voltage of any one cell varies abnormally, the process will be stopped with the error message. Includes AC Charger

RE: ***New Product*** USB Smart LiPo Charger 1-6 Cell
I have one of these chargers(under the original label) & have been putting it thru it's paces. all I can say is, VERY NICE! I have sold several at my track & everybody loves them! I sold all my other chargers, this one does it all. The only thing I would like to see changed is the discharge,1 amp is just not enough.
VERY NICE CHARGER FOR THE MONEY!

RE: ***New Product*** USB Smart LiPo Charger 1-6 Cell
John,
I was using the "storage" feature for my Lipoly packs last night.
The charger only balanced the batteries to 3.80 volts EACH - Instead of 3.85 as stated in the manual...
Is there a place to set the LiPoly storage value?? I set the cell count at 4 and it charged two packs to 15.20 volts instead of stated value in the manual.
Any help would be great, I don't know if it is good to store the batteries long term at this low a voltage (they even come from you at 3.85 balanced).

John,
I went through the "User Set Program" and there is no where for the storage value to be changed.
Even when you enter the "storage" menu, you can change sell count and Lithium battery type, but no access to the storage voltage.
The Manual says LiPo is set at 3.85V/cell... There is no reference in the Manual to change this set point or check how mine ended up at 3.8..
Is this something your tech support can check - like a "hidden" menu??

RE: ***New Product*** USB Smart LiPo Charger 1-6 Cell
John,
I did some more checking. When I go to the storage or discharge mode when I try to change the voltage up or down, it just switches from 4S to 3S or 5S which makes the voltage change by 3.7 volts (for each sell)..
I would like to only discharge down to 3.1 volts per cell, but the charger is set at 3.0 and I can not change that either... Hopefully it is actually set at 3.0 and not lower like the storage setting - that would suck...
Let me know what you can find out..
Thanks,

RE: ***New Product*** USB Smart LiPo Charger 1-6 Cell
i have a TP 1010C charger and balancer but i don't like the way it drains the higher cell/cells down to the lowest one while charging. so can someone tell me if this charger does the same or does it stop charging the higher cell/cells until the lower one/ones catch up.

John,
Is there a way to check with your technical support about this charger??
Even though the F-18 Viper snap-rolled to its death, I still need a working charger/balancer.
Is there some internal menu that will set the "storage" voltage setting to 3.85v (per the manual) instead of the 3.8v setting where it is now??
Also, as mentioned above, I would like the ability to set discharge at 3.1v instead of the 3.0.
Regards...

John,
Those videos cover the basic operation. They barely mention discharge and storage.
No mention of any sub-menu or a way to adjust the storage end-point or the discharge.
In fact, the guy in the video even says that discharge is set to 3.0 and he would not use that number, he would keep his batteries at a higher voltage per cell. But does not tell you if changing the discharge limit is an option.
Do you have any tech support on this charger who could answer these questions??

I am curious to know why you want 3.85 vs 3.80? Is 5/100th's of a volt going to make a difference in the packs performance while being stored?

RE: ***New Product*** USB Smart LiPo Charger 1-6 Cell
Kevin,
It is more the fact that the charger is programmed incorrectly.
The instructions say the storage voltage is 3.85 most recommend that you store at 3.85. Yet, when you use this (my) charger, the voltage goes to 3.80.
Will this hurt in the long-haul. Probably not.
Do I want at charger that is set up correctly - Yes.
Do I want a charger where I can set the discharge voltage to 3.1 instead of 3.0 - That would be nice.
From asking questions here - Opjose provided the Exceed ESC instructions and I found out you can change that low-voltage point to 3.1 for flight packs. That was great news to me. I can change the setting myself and I'll be a lot happier flying that ESC.
So, I'm simply trying to find out if there is a way to get into the programming and set up this charger to work a little better.
Now, I could have bought a $200 charger/balancer instead of this one. But I do not want to do scientific research with my charger.
I just want one that will keep my LiPo batteries alive as long as possible and if there is a way to "help" it do that, then I'm interested... And, if the answer is No - No way to change the "pre-set conditions", then so be it. However, they got the settings in there (incorrectly) some how - there is probably a way to get at them again. Heck, there might even be a way to push an "update" throught the provided USB cable.

RE: ***New Product*** USB Smart LiPo Charger 1-6 Cell
Hey what are you guys paying for this charger? I take it it's available only through nitro planes? Very interesting charger. I have 2 of the 1010c's and one of the 610c's and many others like ice's and tritons and such collecting dust. I only use the TP chargers now. The on screen data (pc part) caught my eye. Since I use most of my packs year round and also have other chargers to store charge on it would not bother me one bit. Might bite just to check it out.
