Zlin Z-50 recieved
Recieved the Zlin the other day. All I can say is WOW! This plane looks awesome.
The covering is tight. Overall it seems very sturdy and well built. I think there is the same less than par hardware, no problem to replace it though.
The landing gear doesn't seem to be as flimsy as others, might even be usable..lol.
The decals are not pre-applied like I seen stated on their website. Which is a plus in my book. Although, I might use them all, it is good to have a choice.
It will be a few weeks before I start the assembly. I hope it flies as good as it looks so far.
After thought: I hope it goes together as good as it looks so far.

Hope these pics suit you. I'm sure not a photographer. Like I said before, the covering is tight with no wrinkles and the landing gear seems adequate for a change. I am excited about the build. Should start in a few weeks.

Excellent! Thanks for the photos. I'd like to build one of those but just can't justify yet another plane at the moment. What are you planning to use engine wise?
Probably need to keep that one in the shade during the summer time in that Fla. sun with all the black trim, I think I'd even change the color of the material under and inside the canopy area.

I haven't been able to justify the last few planes either. Do they need to be justified?
I am going to stick an MVVS .49 in her.
Florida hot? I'm pretty much done by 10:30 in the morning during the summer before it gets too hot.
Go ahead and get you one of these birds Rube, you don't want me to be the only guy with one, do you?

I kinda like the looks of the Zlin 50 also. Any body got an idea of a, better than good size, power plant for this bird? Or would a .52 be plenty enough?
Mando.......
Oh Yeah, looks like 32 bucks for ship to Southern Ill.

Got mine on Friday, checked it out, looks good for the money. Fitted up a couple of different engines, os 50sx or any 46 looks like it will fit in the cowl with out cutting (3" height from the mount) don't know about a 52 but os 70fs is too tall at 4.6". I did notice on the front of the cowl it is very thin and has a couple of cracks starting, I will reinforce with glass before assembly.

OK.....Got me a ZLIN Z50 on the way. Looks like it'll be here Monday or Tuesday. Anybody got any ideas what it needs, or hardware different than what it came with?
I'm think'n maybe hinges, pushrods and the tail end beefed up a bit?

I would inspect the fuel tank well. I generally replace the tank. At least the stopper. I would replace hinges, pushrods, control horns and clevis. I have yet to start on mine.

i like the look of this plane and i'd like to get it if i can get it shipped to Japan. i don't bother justifying buying new planes, i just buy what i want. if i get it, i'll run it electric, but i've got over 40 planes currently rtf and about 90 to build, so it may take a little time hahaha

Hello Zlin owners,
Did any of you fly the plane already? How does it fly? I am looking to get one today. Does it has any bad tendencies? Is it a slow flyer or a fast flayer? what engines do you guys have on it? I have a OS 70 that I want to put on it.

Looks like the 2" spinner is gonna be a perfect fit.
I'm in the middle of the build right now. Maybe have it ready to fly in a couple weeks. Substituting hinges and pushrods are a must. Adding some matching covering on the seams really adds to the looks also.

I am very very curious how you get your planes shipped to you from AK. If you can give me some details of the shipping price + service, I'll be glad to assist you the same way. But as far as I know, USPS in LA is not willing to ship any oversize items for us...We've tried, and many times it failed to go out...so let me know the details and I'll help you out!
However, we are in the process of building an shipping dept. in Asia and even in UK this year so maybe around summer we'll able to cater to Asia/UK customers...
But in the meantime, let me know how u get your planes shipped from the USA. Appreciate your time, Thanks!

RE: Zlin Z-50 recieved
Hi! have any of you guys flown the Z-50? I just received the kit and thought someone would have some scoop on the handling. The plane is short coupled and wondering about ground handling. A full report would be appreciated. My fiber glass cowl is kinda wavey also. I agree, the plane is awsome otherwise.
Thanks, Dale
