CMPro Cessna-50 ARF 46~50 Engine Powered Scale Aircraft
Hi,
Just ordered a CMPro Cessna-50 ARF 46~50 Engine Powered Scale Aircraft for $135 . Seems like a good deal. But I know that the Chinese models have some quarks-poor instructions, only heat glued on firewall etc.
Has anyonr build this or it's bigger brother, the the 140 class? If so any help[ or suggestions would be appriciated.
Thanks,
Zig

I think you will be pleasantly surprised by what you will get.
The biggest thing to watch for IMHO is to set up your tail surfaces so that there is no chance of play, which can lead to flutter.
The long pushrod provided is not the greatest if you use it as is.
One thing you can easily do, is to epoxy in any form of retainer along the fuselage to prevent lateral movement of the pushrod.
This helps to eliminate the potential for flutter.
A small square of hard ply with a hole in it for the push rod will suffice.
Also double check the C.G.
The recommended C.G. on the 1.40 makes the plane WAY too tail heavy.
On the 1.40 version the C.G. should be at or just aft of the forward top wing bolt.

weather clears and cessna soars for ten min. flight at half throttle nitro planes and maxamps make another great combo

That really is a great looking plane.
Add the lighting system and the Robart front strut and it becomes difficult to tell it from the real thing.

I nearly bought one of these the other day. it was a close call between that and the larger free style Seagull 540 160 size that I bought.
I looked at the kit and it was truly remarkalble. It must be the best out of the box scale model I have ever seen.
I wish I could have built both but its on my wish list to build next.

Just a question if you have the time. I am a little hesitant to drill the holes for the gear. The "manual" shoes just screwing the gear to blind nuts. Were your gear legs drilled?

Check the gear to be sure that the holes are not merely painted over.

Heavy sigh..............,
Do you really need to put up the same post in every CMP Cessna thread, cleanup44?
I think Nitro & everyone else understands by now. Have you tried holding your breath until you get your way?
Opjose, do you have any of that flypaper still laying around?
Just picked up the 50 size-182, looks sharp!
Just hunting down the various threads for some ideas & such.

Not sure on that blade, but if you can't find, drop me pm and I'll scan mine into an pdf for you. You'll just need Adobe reader, if you don't have it already.

RE: CMPro Cessna-50 ARF 46~50 Engine Powered Scale Aircraft
Could someone please make a list of absoloutly everything I need to get this plane flying before I buy it because the list on the CMPro site somehow doesn't seem complete. I'd like to run it on electric power.
Any help would be greatly apreciated. Thanks

Nice plane or was Sorry your plane broke. That is part of the NITRO EXPERIENCE. If you don't change about everything on them they might break on you doing what any other plane does with ease. Thought for sure that I had went a full week without someone having troubles out of a Nitro product. Still a great looking plane just not sturdy enough to handle the rigors of being flown.
How many flights before your accident though? Had to replace the wing bolt on my H9 Frenzy the nylon bolt just would not hold up. It would come loose so changed it with a steel bolt. Good luck with your next purchase and hope it flys well no matter where you get it.

RE: CMPro Cessna-50 ARF 46~50 Engine Powered Scale Aircraft
My CMP Cessna build is progressing slowly, and I have been grateful for the advice in this thread, thanks.
Now I have come to try fitting the supplied cockpit 'floor', or whatever it's called and cannot find any references to how it has been done. I can just manage to squeeze the rear portion in with a fair bit of bending and flexing, but can't figure out any way to get the front portion into place except by trimming it smaller. How have all you other folks dealt with that matter?
Then where do you route the aileron & flap servo leads to have a tidy look to the cabin?
Thanks,
William

RE: CMPro Cessna-50 ARF 46~50 Engine Powered Scale Aircraft
Friday 28 august 2009 I received my Marchetti SF 260 low wing plane from Nitro models. First....The advertised plane is supposed to be fiberglass....in reality it isnt....its balsa wood and plywood and the back part of the plane wasnt even covered properly where it tapers to the horizontal stab...a lot of air between the covering makes it bubble and look ugly. The cockpit canopy frame is flimsy im going to have to re-inforce it, and where it lays on the fuselage..about 8 inches of the frame is loose...lousy gluing by the chinese...who knows what else is wrong...im just barely eyeing the plane...ill write if i find more problems (which im sure ill find more) ..angelo 1939

RE: CMPro Cessna-50 ARF 46~50 Engine Powered Scale Aircraft
Hi, I have my Cessna Skyline CMpro 50 with a 46 OS FX and it runs great! But just recently I got myself a 53-4C Enya engine (4 stroke), and maybe someone can tell me if it would be good to change between this two engines, which engine will run better and what difference should I expect? Thank you for sharing!

RE: CMPro Cessna-50 ARF 46~50 Engine Powered Scale Aircraft
A four stroke of that size will be about the equivalent of putting in a .25 two stroke glow engine into that plane.
Many people do not realize that four stroke engines produce LESS power for a given CC/CU rating compared to two stroke engines.
Roughly a 4 stroke .80-90 size engine is about the equivalent of a well aspirated and carbed .46 engine.
The .46 FX is not as powerful as it's later bretheren such as the .46AX, but it is still considerably more powerful than a four stroke .53 Enya.
So don't do it... leave the FX in there and get a smaller ( .32 ) plane for the Enya.
