Nitro planes fastest EDF (stock)
Lately I have been intrested on EDF's and I have never owned one. I looked at some of the brand name EDF's but, after you have them RTF the costs just dont justify a foam toy jet. So my question is out of all the affordable EDF jets Nitro offers, what is the fastest out the box??? It can be ARF or RTF It dont matter I just what it to come with the Fan unit and ESC.
Thanks
Thanks

Fastest?
Potentially this one:

Because of the clean lines, large intake and light weight with low wing loading.
However if this is your first EDF jet, be aware that speed can get you in trouble.
With a plane like the above, you start contending with accelerated stalls, etc. which often catch newbies by surprise...
Heck I've been causght by this and have crashed an EDF as a result.
Most of the RTF planes offer a compromise between cost, and flyability, so they may not be super fast out of the box.

RE: Nitro planes fastest EDF (stock)
I have flown many planes and mostly fly large scale and foamys. but I have never flown a ducted fan.
I do agree that that yellow flying wing looks fast, but I really dont like flying wings. I would like some thing with a elevator and ailerons
thanks

Well you did say "which is the fastest"...
Without having all of the models side by side for speed gun tests, this is hard to determine.
Power to weight is a good indicator, but it is affected by how "dirty" the airframe is in the air.
My F-35 hums along pretty well, as does my FA/18, though the latter may require the installation of a separate BEC.
The FA/18 uses higher voltages, with a slightly larger airframe.
Check out the on-line videos to get an idea of how they perform on a fly-by.
Also remember that when flying something like this, that YOU will perceive it to be flying slower than it actually might be...
The first time I flew one of my XPD-8s, I started complaining to someone who was watching that it was much slower than I expected... even with a suped up power system... His comment was that it appeared to be VERY fast from his and everyone else's perspective watching it.
That said to do it right you really want something like this:

And then put in your own high power EDF subsystem in it... Something that puts out 3lbs+ thrust will make that plane scream.

RE: Nitro planes fastest EDF (stock)
that last jet on the link looks really nice and its not a foam toy plane, I really like that idea, but how much would a 3+ #'s EDF system cost??? I all I know is am sure it would have to be a 4 cell set up but what about the EDF unit and motor ???

RE: Nitro planes fastest EDF (stock)
There was a reply to this very question by someone in this area about that same plane.
They apparently used a WeMotek EDF with a 480 sized high KV inrunner motor pushing 14.8v with good results.
I'm hoping NP will restock the plane, because I'm itching to try the same thing.
