Default Center of Gravity for Ultimate 40

I recently purchased the Ultimate 40 Biplane and the instruction manual leaves VERY much to be desired. The balance points that it instructs me to use cannot be right
If I were to use them as the manual says, the plane would be EXTREMELY nose heavy.
Please let me know how far from the leading edge of which wing and are they close to the body or out at the wing edge?
I would greatly appreciate some help from someone on this as I do not want a nose heavy plane!

I've flown it with the recommended, and it does fine that way.

However I ended up moving the C.G. back to about 1/2" forward from the top rear center carbane support at the bottom of the wing.

Hold the plane by one finger at this point and see if the nose or tail drops consistently.

If there is no real preference you have it how I fly my plane.

Yes... yes, it certainly dose. It is a terrible manual.

Tell me 455Pilot, how are you planning on mounting the wing servos? The manual has a few pictures but is very very vague
It is actually quite frustrating...

There are several versions of this plane.

I have one with provisions for two wing servos, and another one that uses one Mini servo to drive all four ailerons.

Because of the relatively low deflection required on the ailerons, I've had no problems with the Mini servo configuration.
However care must be taken to prevent binding, and to widen and lengthen the pushrod openings and cavity.

I mounted standard servos in each lower wing of my son's Ultimate. Everything fit great and went together fast. I will get a pic today of how I joined the upper aileron to the lower. Because like all bipes that join the upper and lower aileron with the supplied linkages you will get aileron differential. I personally like for all four ailerons to move the same amount up and down, but if you conect them as per the manual they will not.

Here are the pics I was referring to. Notice I used a differant method than what was provided and as far as I am concerned it works better because you get equal movement of both the top and bottom ailerons. I have used this method on other bipes with great results.

Yup, that's a great way to do it.

What did you use for the horn?

I use a regular horn and cut the base off of it.

I have one of these with the ailerons setup with normal control horns. The top aileron moves slightly more than the bottom aileron, but this thing rolls perfectly. No barreling or anything.

The only thing my ultimate 40 does is it will climb when you back off the power and will sink when you power on. Its not much but its there.

I will add a shim or two under the bottom engine mount and remove some of the down thrust.

My favourite all time plane!
