Default "New" OS 55AX ???

The latest issue of the Tower Talk sale catalog lists the 55AX as being "New".

So is this just a misprint?

Or has OS upgraded the 55AX?

My buddy Ernie Misner says that the latest issue of MAN has an ad for the "New" 55AX. So did Hobbico's marketing division make the same mistake twice? Or did OS really upgrade the 55AX?

It's due to arrive after Christmas. The carburetor and muffler are new to the engine. They're the same ones used on the .46FX II.

Thanks Bax, but I'm hoping you made a typo mistake and meant the carb from the 46AX II, and not the old FX carb, right?!

Bax, I purchased a .55 AX from Tower a couple of weeks ago when they were offering $30 off the regular price. How can I tell if I received the new or old .55 AX? I don't have a .46 AX II to compare to....

What has the new carb done performance wise? Getting ready to buy two new engines in this size and I'm spooked with the carb change

Zero change in performance. O.S. consolidates items between engines to make things more uniform, easier to stock, and to help keep prices down.

One more difference between the old 55AX and the new 55AX.

The old 55AX was made in Japan. You can clearly see JAPAN cast into the front crankcase under the needle valve.

The new 55AX is made in China, and says so on the box.
