OS Max SR-40 Marine - what muffler?
Hey there,
I bought a mint, apparently 1977-ish, OS Max SR-40 boat engine on ebay. I am planning on putting it into my 36" Dumas Atlas Van Line U-1.
What muffler fits this engine? I would love to have a few choices for style/performance but one is all i need. I am thinking the OS #743 is my best bet but that is only an semi-educated guess.
How about a manual? That would be cool too since i would love to mod it more as i learn. Having said that, is this engine even the right one? It looks great and has good compression... THat is i all i know...

RE: OS Max SR-40 Marine - what muffler?
The O.S. Max #743 muffler should fit your O.S. Max .40 FSR-M (or maybe RSR-M. The RSR was the rear intake version.) engine. The engine was out of production by the time we became the O.S. Max service center in the 80's, so we'd not have any instructions available for it.
