I had to take apart the regulator because the cover plate was leaking, now I am not sure where the spring goes and which way the cone shape is oriented. I think it would go between the cover and the diaphragm but I am not sure, any help welcome as this is a common fault apparently, I hate plastic parts they age and fail.

The regulator was never meant to be taken apart outside of the factory. O.S. has not supplied parts or diagrams for it. The service centers only replace the entire regulator, so our knowledge of the unit is very limited.
