Your engine is the O.S. .40 RSR. That means that it is a Schneurle-ported, rear-intake engine. If it had the rear exhaust, it would have been a .40 VR.
In the late '70's, it was intended for speed use, but wasn't quite competitive for pylon racing. It was a Pattern-type engine that had slightly more power than the front-intake version because of the straight, clean intake air passage.
