I am using 30% Nitro for my OS-46FX with the tower muffler. That combo hovers my EF profile Edge 540 at half throttle but, it cost my 2 glow plugs for each gallon of 30% nitro? I am using OS Max no-8 glow plugs. I tried different setting rich and lean but the plugs continue to burn?

Before that, i was using 15% Nitro with the same plug and i could fly 4 to 6 gallons before replacing them.

Which glow plugs do you recommend for 30% Nitro on 2 stroke and for Extreme 3 D flying ?

The plugs are not lasting long because of the 30% nitro and 3D-type flying. 3D-type flying usually means that you have lower-pitch propellers turning a pretty high RPM. Add high nitro, and the plugs just get beat to pieces. You could try a colder plug, such as the O.S. Max #A5 plug. This is intended for higher-nitro fuels.

What kind of engines use the colder R5 plugs?

R5 plugs are intended for very high RPM, high-nitro applications such as R/C car engines.
