Default OS max FP40 issues

not sure if my engine's just getting old, but it's starting to form a layer on top that looks like rust.. should I be worried about this?

also.. The mixture has become extremely sensitive. I've had to tune it on the ground to run poorly, but once it's in the air it runs well. time to replace it?

Default RE: OS max FP40 issues

If you have a brown layer forming on the outside of the engine, it would be burned fuel residue. That's normal. The engine will throw some raw fuel from the front, behind the drive washer. This is what keeps the crankshaft lubed.

If the high-speed needle's become sensitive, and you have a good fuel system, then it's a sign that the piston/cylinder fit is starting to go.
