Default Tower muffler for 46FX

I just purchased a Tower muffler for my 46FX and while rotating the exhaust and tightening it the inside boss shattered into several pieces. Has anyone experienced this problem or is there a quick solution without scrapping it? Can I /Should I contact Tower about it or am I to blame? I was only using a screw driver but I don't know if the muffler is fragile..

Your thoughts.

Den,

This isn't something we've heard about. The muffler shouldn't just break when adjusting the tailcone position. You might want to send it back for replacement.

Default Tower Muffler

I had a tool maker replace the threaded rod with a larger size, drill out the end cone and weld some nuts on either end to secure it in place. It's going to work fine. I thought that was better than sending it back. It only cost me $1.89 for the parts and a cup of coffee for the toolmaker.

Thanks for the quick reply.
