There is no "best" fuel for any engine, except, perhaps, for some exotic ones. You can run fuel with 0%-30% in the O.S. Max .50 SX-H heli engine. The tuning will be different for each type of fuel, though, and "tuning" includes the needles as well as the main rotor pitch and the relationship between throttle and pitch. The engine will turn the main rotor at lower RPM with lower-nitro fuels.
The main key is cooling and lubrication when you're dealing with heli engines. We like to see at least 20% oil in fuels used in helis, and if you're running 20% or higher nitro, we'd suggest 22%-24% oil content. Castor oil is always a good choice as the additive.
When people suggest using only a specific fuel blend, it's likely because that fuel works with their heli setup and style of flying. Many people have tuned-pipe systems on helis with 'carbon' rotors and RPM settings to give them the very strong, rapid response for "3D" flying. They'll use high-nitro fuel to get the power boost. If you're trying to learn to fly your heli in a scale-like manner, then you don't need that kind of setup and can use a cooler fuel.
Again, there is no "best". It all depends upon what you have available, and how you fly. You then adjust your tuning and setup to suit.
Or you buy the fuel that suits how you want to fly.
