Default O.S. BGX-1 3500 question?

Hi, I have a question for your consideration, Would you recommend the O.S. BGX-1 3500 for 3D flying? Im looking for a good two strokes engine for a 3D/pattern plane that weights about 12.50 lbs (only the body withouth electronics). I fly in an airport that is 5,300 feet above sea level. I had a bad experience with four strokes engines, thats why I want a good two strokes engine.
Thanks.

As long as you have good fuel flow, and prop the engine to run in the high 8,000's, you should be OK for 3D-type flying. We don't know which prop to use, though. We use an 18 x 6 or 18 x 8 propeller on the test stand. Without the stock muffler, the engine will turn over 8,000 RPM. Add the stock muffler, and you'll lose nearly 1,000 RPM.

Be sure to use large fuel tubing and re-plumb the fuel tank to larger fuel lines so that there's no restriction in fuel flow.

Thank for your help Bax, Wich kinf o muffler shall I use for this engine?, the plane in wich I have planned to use this engine is a Quique Zomenzini 73", I can use a Slimline Pitts muffler, or I can use a In Cowl Muffler, like the J'Tec Muffler. Here are the links:

We don't have any muffler preference...whatever works. You'll need a pump if you move the tank away from the engine. If it's much aft of the firewall, then you'll have to force fuel to the engine.

dont mean to sound rude or anything here, but a BGX on a 73" yak... In my opinion, thats way OVERKILL!!!!!, as this plane has been tested and flys 3d and hovers on half throttle with a os 1.60 fx, i mean sure go ahead and put this bigger motor in, i aint stoppin no one. but just for a little re-consideration...?

Default RE: O.S. BGX-1 3500 question?

I have a BGX-1 3500 fitted to my Patty Wagstaff Extra 300s (Great Planes ARF 78-1/2" span) I have now flown the aircraft about 12 times initially with a Bolly 20 x 8 wooden prop straight fuel (no nitro) It didnt seem to perform too well , so I changed the prop to APC 18 x 8 with 5 % nitro it certainly seems a lot better but I am still a bit dissapointed with the power output , maybe I should go to a higher pitch , or perhaps I am too impatient as the engine is still very new ( 12 flights and about 1-1/2litres on the bench ) Does any body out there have any experience with this engine and can reccommend propeller size for this engine/ aircraft combination and any other useful info on this slightly unknown engine ( to me at least ) ?
As with all OS engines it is superbly manufactured and I am sure with time will show it's full potential.
