OS 40 MAX LA
Hi I have an Irvine Tutor 40 with and OS 40 MAX LA engine. I haven’t used it in about a year and a half because last time I did the engine had trouble starting and running well once it did get going.
Basically, when I started it, the engine would take a long time to get it going. Once I got it going the engine would run for a while on idle and when I came to rev it, it would just die.
It was put away in storage and now I’ve moved house I decided to try and get it fixed. I’ve taken out the engine and cleaned it up. I just have a few questions and any help would be great!
Firstly, does anyone know what the original problem is? And how to fix it?
Also, What glow plug and fuel would be best for this engine?

RE: OS 40 MAX LA
Reset the needle valve to 2 turns open, and screw the airbleed valve until it covers half the hole. This should give you a good starting point.
For fuel, any airplane fuel containing 5% nitro ought to do it; I've ran my 40LA without any nitro, just straight 80% methanol / 20% synthetic oil mix and it goes perfectly.
Buy a new A5 plug for the engine, just in case it yours might be faulty.
Here a link to the manual of this engine.
