OS 15 replacement muffler
Does anyone know what the correct replacement muffler for an OS 15 MAX would be. This engine used a strapped on muffler, and the one that was currently on it (which is now a dead muffler) is the same that is on my OS 25 (althought the 15 has a shorter bolt. They have 'OS-702' stamped on them. The problem is that the strap seems to be too large and I've gotten the muffler strap tightened all the way down and it still is a bit loose and making the nice black goo from the muffler and engine rubbing together.

RE: OS 15 replacement muffler
The O.S. muffler for your engine is no longer available. It's been out of production for a long time. If your muffler's only problem is the strap, you can easily make one from a hose clamp you purchase at the auto parts store. Get a large one and clip it 1/2-way between the two ends. Size it so that you can loop the screw portion at the back of the cylinder. Fold the cut end to double it, and bolt that part to the muffler body. Do the same for the other end. Attach the muffler to the engine and tighten. Don't over-tighten...you can distort the cylinder if you go too much. Clip off any excess from the free end of the strap. You're in business!
