RE: mounting an OS FS-70 sideways?
Personal opinion, I like the sideways mounting better than a vertical. Schools out on inverted though. I run a 52, a 91, and a 70 on their sides. And one 91 straight up in a 4*60. I haven't flown the 91 on it's side yet, but the 70 and 52 both run great that way.
As a side benifit, it make tank level less of a problem. Can't think of any cons.

I have an O.S. 70 Surpass II mounted horizontally in my SIG Kadet Senior (pics attached) and it works like a charm. I like mounting engines sidways. They're easier to cool, you usually don't need a remote glow plug and it looks cool sticking out the side of the cowl.
If you're mounting it under a cowl, I found that the metal O.S. engine mount allows you to get a lot closer to the firewall with a 4-stroke. Also, invest some money in the slimline pitts muffler. It looks nice and sounds GREAT!

I just put a slimline pitts on the 91 in my Super Aeromaster. The only down side is that you end up with a huge hole for the cylinder and muffler in the cowl. I've yet to hear it run, I still have some work to do before I'm ready to run it up.
