Default Fixing up an old os .35fp need some help

This engine was on the very first plane I had, its well over 15 years old....
About 7 years ago I dis-asembled it (cause I crashed) with the intentions of cleaning it, I placed it in a jar and filled the jar with r/c fuel.....

Well needless to say I forgot about it while letting it soak and eventually I quit flying.......
So about a year ago I see it in the jar (all the fuel had evaporated but there was oil/residue left) on it, I got some gasoline out and used it to clean it up...
Everything looks fine, its just the outside of the engine has some tarnish on it...
I think it will run fine again but here is my questions...

I see on os website it says there is a head gasket? It never had head gasket on it, is this something I HAVE to have and need to get?
Also I noticed on the pin that hold the piston to the connecting rod there is no teflon pads that go into it or anything...
Is there supposed to be? or does the rod just slide into the piston and thats it??

Also I see there is a parts pack available
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=OSMG2135&P=7
if I do need the parts listed above is this everything I need?

Thanks!
Here is some pics, tell me if you think you know of something to get the rest of the stuff off, I was thinking of a wire brush??

Default Fixing up an old os .35fp need some help

so is she salvagable???

I've got some really good alum cleaner/carb cleaner, it comes in a 1 gallon can with a dipping tray, it made an ol K&B shine like new!

I let this engine soak for about an hour in it (only took 15 min on the K&B) and it didn't improve much..
any cleaner you can reccomend or anything?

These are duplicate postings to one in the general Engines forum, which have been answered.

I still haven't recieved and answer to my 2 original questions though...

1. Does the os 35fp have those pads on the ends of the wrist pin?

2. Is the head gasket needed? I don't believe it had one before when I ran it, it was used though...

Thanks!
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Please be aware that we are not always able to answer posts oo RCU as quickly as some would like.

The wrist pin on the O.S. Max FP-series of engines had teflon pads on them. They are not available separately. You must purchase a wrist pin to get them.

All O.S. Max engines use cylinder head gaskets. It is aluminum and the same color as the cylinder head. Many people look into the groove and see smooth aluminum. That's the gasket. Careful work with a sharp #11 blade can remove it intact.
