Default OS FS 70 Rocker cover question

I purchased a used 70FS and found the rocker cover to be repaired, so I got a new one and put it on. I noticed that there seemed to be a very thin silicone seal on the original cover. Do I need a gasket or will it seal ok without one?

Default RE: OS FS 70 Rocker cover question

O.S. engines don't have a gasket for the rocker cover. If you saw silicone under the rocker cover of your engine, it was added after the engine left the factory. Many modelers do this.
