Default Help with .61FX, changing needle valve position?

Hi,I want to change the Main needle valve on my O.S. .61FX to stand up along the cyl. and point out the top of the cyl. head.
I tryed to change the position but there is a black O-ring that sits on the bottom of the main needle valve housing.
this black O-ring gets stuck and will rip if I try to screw the needle housing down.
Manual shows nothing about it.
Do I need to remove this housing O-ring??
Do I need any gaskets on the brass fitting when I move its position too??
Thanks.

BD,

Usually, just exchanging the needle assembly and the stopper screw with their associated parts works fine. You can lube the o-ring with some non-petroleum oil/grease to help it go in. If you don't have any on hand, a bit of the oil residue from your muffler will work nicely.

Carefully insert the assembly and tighten it slowly, and you should be fine.

BAX, still is not going to work right.
If I try to move the position of the needle to the spot that will make it stand up to the top of the cyl. head,it will get stuck because of the black O-ring that sits on the bottom of the main needle valve.
The threads in the other port are close the the top,so when you start screwing it down it stops when you get to the black o-ring.
You will end up cutting the o-ring all apart if I keep turning it.
You also have to put the fuel nipple on the needle valve too when you move it.
Can you take a look at one of your 61FX and try to change position of the needle and let me know what to do??
Should I remove the o-ring??
What about the round paper gaskets on the plug, where do they go if I can move the needle??
Thanks..

You will need to loosen the back plate in order to achieve the needle postion you want if I recall as thats what I had to do on mine to get it to stand up straight.

ShempHoward,Did you have the same problem with the o-ring getting stuck in the other port for the main needle valve?

What did you do, take the backing plate off and turn the plate around to the spot you wanted?
