120 ax max recommended rpm
Don't know if this forum is still active, but I have a new 120 ax and would like to know what the maximum recommended high end rpm is for this engine. Any help is greatly appreciated.

RE: 120 ax max recommended rpm
For me I would say get the right prop ... maybe a 16x6, lean her till max then get her down to about 500 RPM off the peak. Fly her and see if she's hot. I always test my engines that way, unless you have the engine's performance chart then you want to use the right prop to get her at the peak of the torque curve. My TT120 2C was turning a 16x6 at 10,500 RPM ... I set her to about 10,000 RPM only but when flying its mostly on 65% throttle only.

RE: 120 ax max recommended rpm
For best all-around operation, we'd recommend that you use a propeller that would allow the engine to turn about 8,000 RPM when leaned to peak RPM on the ground. You can go as high as 8,500 RPM or so, but not really much more than that. The "redline" for the engine is at 9,500 RPM, so getting close to that will shorten the engine's life.
