Default 120 Surpass III break-in & exhaust system info

Hello there!

I've just ordered a 120 Surpass III, for a Typhoon pattern plane.

I have two questions:

1) I ordered the "O.S. 1414B Flex 1.20 Surpass III" and the "O.S. Exhaust Manifold Inside FS-120S" parts, and I want to use the included silencer. Is there any heat build-up problem with this setup? The engine is fully cowled, and the engine instructions say you should tune it to peak-RPM, so I'm worried if it will get too hot with this exhaust configuration

2) The instruction show a break-in procedure similar to a 2-stroke ABN engine, that is alternating between rich and lean running. I also have a 26Surpass and a Saito.72. These other engines had a rich break in-period, as stated on the respective instructions, and from what I've seen all the time it is the "standard" procedure for the break in on ringed engines. They've had no problems so far, after many flight hours. Question is: Will I harm my 120 Surpass III in any way if I do the break-in suggested for the 26 Surpass and Saito 72?

Thanks for your reply!

As long as you get plenty of cooling air, don't run the engine too lean, and use a good fuel, you'll have no problems with the exhauset system.

You can breakin the engine similar to the FS-26, or follow the instructions that came with the engine. We'd suggest you follow the instruction sheet.
