os fs 70 surpass
Hi All
I've been out of the hobby for over 13 years and would like some assistance.
I have a 70 surpass that I had oiled ,wrapped and put away back in 1992. The engine is frozen. After disassembly, It looks like the bearings are rusted.
Before I heat the engine to remove the sleeve, I would like to soak it in a solution first.
What would be the best soaking solution?
Peter

You can use model fuel, kerosene, motor oil, or such. What are you wanting to soak the engine for? To remove old fuel residue? Then Model fuel is the best. To just remove old corrosion? Then a petroleum product may be best.
Just remove the parts needed to get the rubber gaskets off the engine before you submerge it in the cleaning solution. Petroleum products will damage the rubber o-rings in the carb and at the ends of the pushrod covers.
