Default OS91FX Props

I think I've over propped my 91FX. I'm using a Top Flight 15x6 wood prop. What should I drop back to? Is there a good 3-bladed prop that will work well?

I'm using it in an Aerowork's Extra 260 (61) so I should have power to spare. I like the look of the 3 bladed prop.

I've seen on the OS website recommendations of a 13x8 or 13x9. Can I go 13x8 3-bladed? I'm using 20% Power Master fuel, but I've just come into 15% Cool Power Heli fuel that I will be running in the future.

Suggestions?

Don't use a 3-blade prop unless you have ground clearance issues. You don't gain much of anything regarding performance. Also, it has more load than a 2-blade prop, so you'll need an even smaller one. Use a 13 x 8 2-blade prop and see how it goes. You can turn the engine as high as the high-11,000's when leaned to just rich of peak RPM and on the ground. The engine runs well there.

O.S. suggests large propeller to keep noise levels down. There are usually very strict noise regulations at Japanese flying fields, and O.S. suggests props to help out there. Here, there's not so much concern, and you can go with smaller props that will give you more power...but also more noise.

Bax,
Thanks for the quick response! I'll try the 13x8 and see how she pulls.

After posting, I've seen the Japan noise issue quoted in several responses. I hope you cut and paste that response.

Thanks Again.
