Default OS 75AX Break-in Procedure

I have a 75AX that I have not run yet. The instructions for breaking-in state to start the engine very rich so that it is running in 4-cycle operation and let it run that way for one minute. Then lean it to two-cycle operation for 10 seconds. Then reopen the needle valve back to four-cycle operation for 10 seconds and continue this through the first tank of fuel. Is this the correct break-in procedure for a ABL engine? I didn't think a non-ringed engine with a tapered cylinder should be run in 4-cycle operation.

According to O.S., that's how you do it. If you run it as we used to run ABC-type engines, you'll use a fuel with no less than 20% oil, all castor, and never let the engine drop into 4-cycle mode. Run it as rich as possible in 2-cycle mode. Gradually lean as the engine will accept it. With synthetic, you may want to run richer longer.

Thanks Bax. My fuel has some synthetic oil in it so I will follow the instructions in the manual.
