I've got a 26' Chaparral with a 350 big block pushing 300hp hitting high 60's maxed out at 71mph. Once the lake opens up again i'll get some good shots of her.
I like you cat...what do you got on the back twin Mercs of 175's 200's?

A 5.7 Volvo is a Chevy based engine. Mercruiser, Volvo, OMC, Crusader and Marine Power all use Chevy base engine. They all come from the same factory, just each marine company add their own accessories and sometimes swap out the cams. The standard horsepower on those engines is 250 - 320. 375 is a lot for a 5.7......yours must be modified. http://www.volvo.com/NR/rdonlyres/AA...0/57_SX_06.pdf

I'm a lead mechanic at a local marina down here. I am Merc, and Volvo certified.
To tell you the truth, I'd really like to see a single 5.7 Volvo in a boat (roughly 4600#'s) doing 71mph. Would definately be a first in my book. My closest friend has a 27 Concept (much lighter boat 3600#'s plus fuel) with twin stock 225 Optimax's and the most we can get out of her is 74mph with the wind.

I've got a boat, but it's not very big. I dont have a picture, just because , but I have a 10' 6" RIB, with a 15hp merc and a surface piercing prop. Got it clocked at 45mph, not bad for 15hp. Not coincidentally it's a Quicksilver.

RE: real boats ....anyone run the real thing??
A 350 motor is a 5.7L guys along with in the first post i never said it was a volvo motor until the second post. Plus it has been slightly modified with new dual props, new intake, injectors, plugs, and exhaust. So coming from the the dealer when tuned said 375. I posted with 300's because i've never taken the thing out of the boat and dynoed it myself...the day i do i'll let you know what the true HP reading is. But then again i would love to see you put down my older 350 5.7 Volvo in a 25foot fourwins running at 69mph and that had nothing done to it along with my 70mph jetski that has had a few things done to it plus the new engine in it that’s never been ran. Might i add getting 645 hp out of my buddies Nissan 350z motor that is only a v6 twin turbo and alot of othere things done to it and still has the original block and pistons.
I grew up around motors, boats, and cars and not a BS artist. I like my hobbies and appreciate other people’s as well as like how crazyotto is pushing his cat at 112mph with twin 300’s is quite impressive as i’ve only done 100mph on a 43foot Donzi ZR. So doing over 100mph in a small cat like that must be even more exhilarating!!!
So lets try not to be a BS artist....

First you said it was a big block at 300 ponies, then it's a 5.7 pushing 375. You also implied that it was not a Chevy engine.
A 350/5.7 is a Chevy small block (not big block) and stock it pushes up to 320 ponies as you can see in the link I provided.. I did say yours had to be modified to push 375.
I have been doing this for 22 years, and believe me, I know what motors are out there, what can be done to them and what the boats are capable of. You simply piqued my interest with inaccurate and inconsistant claims.

I OWN A 1973 RAYSON CRAFT 18' FLAT BOTTOM V-DRIVE 1.25 OVERDRIVEN 406 CU. IN. SMALL BLOCK CHEVY. RUNS IN THE LOW 80S, NOT THAT FAST BUT GETS THERE QUICK.

Got any pictures F16? That's a neat boat. We had a customer who had one down in Miami for a long time. His was powered by a blown 327 pushing 400hp @ 8,000 RPM direct drive (no tranny) thru a 1:1 v-drive. He was getting mid 80's out of it.
