Gday,
A few mates and I went for a fish last week down to Greencape, southern NSW. Fishing is one of my other passions as well as seeing parts of my country that many do not bother to see. Seeing as I meet more Americans, Germans and Brits down there bushwalking/fishing or camping, I thought I'd share some pics of this beautiful part of Australia.

Fishing is another of my passion. I wish I had more time to go fishing.....

I drove up to Merimbula once and fished there......

At the moment I spending a fair amount of time on my fishtank which is another of my passion.

Yer mate, had me a parrot fish (5 star), leather jacket, pike, snapper & a flattie. All good tucker. I also had what I think was a tomato rockcod, but I was out gunned by the brute. Any fish I won't eat or magnificently big, I'll take a photo and return it.
I have heaps of time as I worked for 20 years in I.T and got made redundant. Absolutely laughing. I will never return to I.T or any computer work ever again. Just thinking about it makes me happy.

Anyway, I used to keep South American cichlids, like Oscars, Texas, convicts etc. Most cool to watch and their brooding habits. Ended up with 5 tanks and 2 billion fish. Oscars grew to a foot and just smashed my tank up. Got rid of the fish to friends, but kept the bigger tanks.

Great pics Peter. Making me homesick I am a former Gosford lad but the terrain (and fishing) is much the same.

Thanks. We fish Brisbane Water, Tuggerah Lake, Entrance & Norah Head too. Next time I'm there, I'll take some pics.
It's funny, I have a few mates scattered around the globe. We call them our: Euro reps or our US reps. I feed them vegemite and photos like the ones displayed of our antics. They supply us with info and parts for r/c boats. It works out well.

Those places are great fishing spots.

I like going to the Royal National Park and fish around Bundeena. It's not that far and its very quiet..... Don't get to go fishing much though because of lack of leisure time and the fact that the missus is not into fishing and she gets bored.[]

I'm into RC, fishing, hiking and camping but the missus is more into shopping, shoes and clothing. Very hard to reconcile our tastes....[]

Anyway we have found a compromise when we go to Penrith. She goes for long walks when I play with my boats.....

The fishes I'm keeping now are really tiny compared to what you keep Peter. They are neons and gourami.

I used to keep monster catfish (pangassius) that were about 50 cms long in my pond while I was living overseas. I love them as they look a lot like freshwater sharks but were very genty and are vegeterian.

Bundeena indeed - Fished there plenty of times. Loved going around the corner to Wattamolla - a real beautiful spot (though way too busy these days). Think I first went there in the late 70's.

It is a fantastic coast line around those parts.

JC you made me laugh. The missus is the same with the shoe collection.[:@] I am lucky though, as she is a reader and is quite content to read a book. But then again, she wouldn't rc or fish with me. HA.

Yer, I love the RNP. Fish around Warumbal, but went to a party once at Bundeena.

Had a gourami awhile back, but the tank got an ick infection. I put the gourami in a plastic protection tank and put it in with the Oscars. The pair of bully oscars assaulted the plastic tank thing, ripped it apart to get to the gourami. Ended up biting its head clean off and just left the corpse floating around the tank. Mrs was devasted as was I. I plan to keep fish again, bit I'd like a dedicated room for all the tanks, heating etc. It just ain't happenning at the moment. Yep, the catties grow very quickly. Also had those bala sharks and they are so cool to watch when you have a fleet of them. They school and swim around your tank as one. They look like little great whites too.

Those fishes looks great. Loves Tax Mex... How long have you ahd them? And where do you usually buy your fishes,plants and aquarium supplies?

There are a few places that I quite like:

St George Aquarium @ Rockdale (not the cheapest but a big variety of fishes, especially cichlids)
Aquarium shop (can't remember the name) @ Auburn, next to Domayne (expensive, but a big variety)
Aquarium shop (can't remember the name) @ Hurstville on Forest Road (small but value for money)
Riverside Aquarium @ Campsie (not the cheapest but a big variety by a fish enthusiast, a few monster fishes in the many display tanks)
A few aquarium shops at Canley Vale (cheap by the dozens....)

Have you been to any of them?

I must have spent as much money in fish keeping as in RC.... but I enjoy equally both




The world is a global village people just travelled and live in different countries.

Justaddawatta how is it living in Australia compared to US? Any big difference? I used to live in Africa and Singapore before.....

I kept cichlids for about 5 years. I shopped at Lams, Canterbury Rd until they closed and moved to Parra. I had breeding convicts, & I swapped the babies for bits for the tanks etc. St George used to be on the Princes Hwy, but not any more, near the school? Anyway, fish have gone. I miss watching them though. I'll set them all up again one day when I have more room. There is an excellent aquarium at Marrickville, near Bing Lee. They have saltwater, heaps of cichlids, neons etc.
