By time you have enough money for everything the price on the stuff you may have just bought will have dropped, so no benefite to buying now vs later.

Pretty sure this is the issue. The mechanic I am bringing it to has guessed this as well. http://www.hyundai-forums.com/183-lc...-you-down.html $995 for a used tranny with about 50k miles. $1400 for a rebuilt. Those prices include labor as well. This guy has been in the business for 40+ years. Let's see if he is right lol

Some good stuff coming out at the minute.. could retire the TB-01 and Hummer and get one of these...

Would benefit from a better body though..

Well I will have enough money for it all as I will be waiting for my tax returns in March of 2013. It's just that bills and family necessities come first before my hobby unfortunately lol But you are right, things may go down in price. But right now I'm figuring ~$500-600 for everything. That's a bit to have the wife approve after spending $1k on the Hyundai. I should trade her my car for the Camry after it getsfixed. 186k miles on it and it runs like a top!

Good luck w/ the transmission.. sucks to have that happen.. Manual FTW?! ha!

My Toyota's tranny is still fine.. hopefully last another 100k miles or so.. the engine will probably blow up before the tranny anyway.. (don't think it has had a timing belt change since 120k miles or so? Forgot..)

Yea my next transmission might as well be manual. I drive highway all the time anyway lol. My last timing belt change was at 140k miles. I hope the car makes it to atleast 200k miles, or a quarter of a million!

Have chain in the GT3.. belt in the bike, however... but that's a different setup altogether.. there's no tension on them valves (no valve springs, yo..) Desmo, yo!

    Belt on the Avalon!!

I really like that most Nissans/Infiniti's have chains, it's one less thing to worry about.

They would do damage for sure if they ever snap.. but metal chain are less known for snapping than belt.. that's all.. but people do change the chain when it is stretched / worn / etc.

My buddy that has the Benz C230 had the chain break on him at only 92k miles. $6,000 in repairs and had to tow it to Syracuse (2.5 hours from here) Toasted the engine.

LOL well we never did race. I enjoy driving my grocery getter lol. I don't want to see it in a scrap yard. He was out of warranty so it was all out of pocket. He still makes fun of my car, but I keep saying if my timing belt breaks, it won't cost anywhere near $6K to put a new motor in lol. Or a used one.

Yea I wanted to bring the Hyundai down to them. Not to brag about anything, just curious to see what it would run in the 1/8th and 1/4 mile and at what speed. But I guarantee I would get a few looks and laughs. But no joke, I can stomp the gas and it will lite em up.
