The tranny engages smoothly. I also already adjusted the shifting drum so it shifts sooner. My cousin had it shifting so late, it was easily red lining and most of the time wouldn't shift. It's been a good 8 years since I had to tune so Im almost new at it again haha.

Heh, I get you. My 2nd ever nitro car for me, reading all I can. Think it could be engine wear? I'm hoping not for you, lol. My sleeve and piston are worn on mine..... What luck. Only way I think it is is that sometimes it runs strong, other times weak, and other times won't start after running a couple tanks unless I let it sit for 10 minutes.

It's still way too new to be engine wear. He only had about 8 tanks thru it before putting it up. It's got great compression too. Almost fried my starter motor the first time I started it. I think it's just me not being up to par with tuning lol. I'll get their eventually.

Well, the B5's coming together, although the instructions show I'm missing a couple screws/nuts. DX4R Pro works great and I love it.

Why does the Traxxas Velineon system manual show everything setup with an NiMh in it's pictures, then recommends a NiMh, yet it's rated for 3S.
If it works, take it apart and find out why.

I ran NiMH in my Bandit with the Velineon...Out of 3 packs, it smoked at least one cell in the pack. It draws a lot of power. If I knew then what I know now, I would have run 2s from the get-go.

Exactly what I meant. They show NiMh all over, but when it's rated for 3S, why not run 2-3S? I started on NiMh with it, then decided I needed some REAL power. I was a beginner at lipo then and I went out and bought Venom 3S 5000mah 35C and tossed it in. I broke everything from axles to gears to knuckles. I ran 2 packs through it and was forced by my repair bill to return it. Luckily the LHS took it back for $20 less than I paid for it, and I bought a 2S 5000mah 40C. I've been at home with that pack and it's just right. 2S is the way to go...

The manual was printed a long time ago in a galaxy far far away, before lipos were the norm.

If I remove the reverse servo from my Max, will there be any voltage gain? I don't believe an idle servo draws any power. I was thinking of swapping the 2.4ghz system from my 2 channel axial system to use on my Maxx. Something a little more reliable, less batteries in the remote.

It all depends cummings. They all drain some, digitals more so than analogs. Most manufacturers list the draw in the spec sheet. So yes you would gain a lil.

I just don't think I need a reverse servo. I'll save it for a spare or something and switch it to a 2.4ghz system. But really would I gain anything going to 2.4ghz from 27mhz?

mostly just range, which is quite nice to have when the vehicle can take off once it loses signal.
