Ooooooh! Crusty bread....I love crusty bread! And that stew looks the perfect place to dip it! We have a little "hole in the wall" local place that serves onion soup, vegetable soup or beef stew in a bowl made of hard crusted bread, great place for lunch if I'm working in the area..
Anyway, slow cooked some pork ribs and rump, Shredded it all with a fork and then mixed in the BBQ sauce in a skillet. Home made cole slaw...the stores here put so much doggone sugar in their stuff you'd think it was meant to be candy...yuck. I'm a southerner through and through, but I still can't stand the amount of sugar we seem to put in some stuff...like iced tea that you can stand a spoon in!
Little extra sauce on mine.....(NO sugar!!)

Bringing back memories there, Sheo. ChiliMacNCheese was one of my favorites in the university cafeteria. Sometimes it was the ONLY edible item offered for the day...but always good.

Yum, yum! Didn't know you were able to eat terrorists(Hamass) in Dubai...cool![8D]
Pounded out turky breast wrapped around Mozzarella and pesto and broiled; sided with broccoli marinara over fettuccine on the side. Not pictured is the 18"x5'' loaf of Garlic bread...crusty, of course!
Unbelievable...I deleted instead of transfered the pics!!![&:] So here's a breakfast oddity from way back....the sad mushroom.

But then again the venue more than made up for it
What a fun couple of days!! Five P-51's at the same show with Bud Anderson as a special guest. "Gentleman Jim" was flown by a Delta Airlines stewardess and she really handled that plane too!!! Great "Pyro".
Can't take this one of the boys anywhere that he doesn't make a friend....actually ended up being her date for the 40's style hangar dance last night and they went off airport for lunch today...17 and he (and his twin brother) has(have) the world by the tail!!!

RE: Dinner time
Two things I really miss that are not available out here....proper SF sour dough bread (boudines?) and corn dogs.
Hmmm...[&:]...maybe I should open a few corn dog stands. Hey Ishan...got some money to invest? I'll manage the stores/franchise here...[&:]. I can easily get the local partner.

RE: Dinner time
Frets....No lie dude. I've tried more than a dozen times to make a 'nugget' and sour dough bread. I've even given Sour Dough 'starter packages' and complete and printed out instructions that I brought back from California to a couple of the best bakers out here.
Couple things wrong out here...the air is too heavy with lead, zinc and mercury. Temps are also not conducive to wild yeast spores.
Also keep in mind that the San Francisco sour dough bread comes from an original nugget that is something like 150 years old (don't quote me on age). In addition, the air coming off the Pacific ocean is going to be completely different than what comes of the little bath tub that's off our coast here in Dubai.
Also, in SF there is quite a good amount of fog...that helps as well. We don't get fog too often out here, and if we do, it's too full of the bad stuff that I don't want to be trapping into my yeast..[&o]
I miss good Sour Dough bread.....oh yeah...and corn dogs...

RE: Dinner time
LOL....came out for a 6 month contract.....20 years ago..[:@]
I was a night club dj on a 7 year world tour. My agent had contracts all over the world and the last one they had for me was here. After I finished the gig here, they said, 'we can send you home and you can sit on your thumbs for 6 months and we MAY call you back, or you can stay in Dubai and find your own way.'
That's the abridged version anyway.

RE: Dinner time
With all this talk about Sourdough bread, I was getting a bit homesick for one of my favorite deli's in San Diego.
It's called 'The Cheese Shop Deli'. Every payday when I worked downtown, me and a few of my colleagues would hit that place up for lunch.
Sourdough bread with smoked turkey, pepper jack cheese, avocado, sprouts, shredded lettuce, tomato, red onion, mayo and dijon. My favorite nine times out of ten order. Would eat that with a small bag of fritos and a coke.
So in the end....I ended up making something close to it for dinner. Had to use some nice Portuguese rolls instead of the Sourdough though.
Roasted half a turkey breast with salt, pepper, white wine and sprinkled with a liberal amount of paprika. Thinly sliced that up after it cooled and topped it with shredded pepper jack, then stuck that under the broiler until nice and bubbly. Topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado and some mayo and dijon. Didn't have any sprouts.
It wasn't the same...but did the trick.
