RE: Do you 'do' Christmas lights?
Yes, the whole Griswald-style shebang.
The house has over 200 mtrs of led ropelights, the santa and sleigh, the Boomers (big white kangaroos to tow the sleigh, it's too hot here for the reindeer, so they get to stay on the lawn) the big nativity scene, the led icicles, the huge led star, the seven-foot tree in the front window, the led pine forest, the ropelight toy train, the fibre-optic wreath on the door, decorations in all the windows and heaps more.
I start planning in January, when pulling it all down and looking at what needs upgrading or replacing.
The cost? I don't know, and have no plans to put a price on christmas spirit, I do it for the sheer fun of it.
My father's place leaves mine in the shade though, it's christmas from the front gate to the back fence, takes three weeks to set up and two to tear down. At last count there were twenty-seven full-size christmas trees!

Nice....[&:]
I bet some of these decorations are so wild they can be seen from low earth orbit...
If I had a big amount of lights and stuff, I can see not wanting to think about the cost of it.....kind of like this hobby...[:@]

But I saw this thread and just had to post this video! It's good to be back I've missed RCU!

RE: Do you 'do' Christmas lights?
We do Christmas lights every year. Nothing outlandish, but enough that I get grumpy if it's cold out when I'm putting them up and then 1/3 of them don't work, and then they get all tangled, etc, etc. You get the idea.
Grumpy putting them up, but I always like having them up when I'm done. We stick to the "regular" (white) lights all around.

Decent effort on the lights but the music choice leaves much to be desired.
Try this one on for size. Skip to 1:32 for the good bit.

And this one, for a more christmasey feel(And some christmas music that doesn't make people want to punch babies!)

Man oh man!!! Nice finds 378
I can't imagine the amount of effort to do those shows.
Would love to know if they are using a generic computer program to control the lights or if they have to write their own.

Hmmmm...that is true saucysavy. Honestly never thought about the lack of snow having grown up in San Diego and now living in Dubai. But ya....snow adds a big effect to the scene.
