It's sad, the typical jungle animals that everyone thinks of, like lions, tigers, elephants, and leopards are unlikely to be around for my grandchildren to see in the wild at least. Poachers suck.

Yeah, people need to crack down on poachers. They take it very seriously in Africa, though there's limited enforcement due to lack of funds and general civil unrest. They do take harsh actions (sometimes shooting them on sight if caught in the act). Poachers know what risks they are taking and they're committing a crime against life in general, making these wonderful animals (whom have been around longer than we have) go extinct.

yup its sick.
really ticks me off hearing about people killing sharks to eat thier fins. wipe them out and your going to have major ecosystem problems.
what is worse in not the poachers, its the clientele that desires such sinfull possesions, if there was no value in killing a dangerous animal, whats the point?

Yeah. The governor outlawed trade and sale of shark fins in CA, which I agree with. Certain groups say its cultural, but it's a horrible practice. I love animals and want them around. They're adorable.

That's good to hear about the shark fins becoming illegal in Cali.
I've been to Hong Kong and walked down a road called 'dried fish road' when translated. Dozens upon dozens of stores filled with dried shark fins. Each one has at least one massive fin mounted and displayed in a frame. It was sad.[&o]
