Backyard Garden
Do you do it?
Do you wish you could?
My grandparents had quite an extensive little backyard garden that they maintained. They grew corn, potatoes, tomatoes, beans, squashes, pumpkins, lettuces, herbs, broccoli, cauliflower, radishes, carrots, lemons, peaches, avocados, figs, strawberries, all kinds of stuff.
And they did it all organically and pesticides free. They made their own compost as well. I remember well having to turn the piles every weekend when we'd visit.
The amount of meals we had that featured a majority of ingredients from their garden was truly amazing. And the flavor of the vegetables is simply indescribable.
I would love to do this myself, but I don't have a house or a back yard / garden. Additionally, it's quite difficult to get anything to grow in the heat out here.

I should add that when you hover over the link for this thread and get the little yellow square with the first couple of lines from the first post it says
"Do you do it?

My grandparents had quite an extensive little backyard garden that they maintained. They grew corn, pot..."
Which I found quite amusing.

Hahahaha....that's funny DVP. I didn't plan that...[:-]
You have some pretty good skills there mate. My grandparents did pretty much the same thing but used breezer blocks.
You can see them just in the background. Check the size of the beef steak tomato.

RE: Backyard Garden
That's a nice looking tomato! [X(]
And thanks for the compliment too.
I'm a landscaper by trade and like to build stuff.
The veggie gardens at our place were made from mostly recycled materials by the way.
Actually working on something rather unusual in my own backyard at the moment.
Will start a thread on it later.
