RE: PC went
from my earlier experiences you just blew a power supply.depending on what pc you have should be less than a couple hundred to re power the pc.and more importantly make sure you have an inexpensive surge protector on it..

RE: PC went
Yup I ordered a Surge Protector and a new 850watt PSU from Corsair. They will be here tomorrow. Then I will send out my 750w and get it RMAd and sell it.

RE: PC went
750W was not enough for that system. You had virtually zero head room. The 850W will definitly be better. See this calc here:
http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine
When I put in your specs with 20% capacitor aging it suggests 786W.

RE: PC went
I had a similar issue with my pc a year ago, it had a 700w psu running SLI, quad core, 3 500gig hds, and 8 gigs of memory.
I upgraded everything on that pc except for the case and psu. I did have that loud pop and it did work for a while but then one day it wouldnt power up and I knew what it was but at the time I was too lazy to change it.
It was an Ultra psu 700w, now I have a 1200

RE: PC went
I swear by Corsair PSUs. I should have known from the start it couldnt handle it. My previous PC had the original Corsair HX1000.

It's funny how this thread is on the "Hot Thread" list.

RE: PC went
Haha.
OK...
Intel i7 2600 @ 4.8Ghz on hybrid water/air (Corsair H80)
Gigabyte Z68 UD4 (sick board)
12GB 1600mhz
2xOCZ Agility 2.0 80GB in RAID 10 (double capacity double speed, no redundancy) - I read a GB a sec (995mb/s).
1x1TB generic Seagate
Nvidia 580 GTX
22" LG 120hz 3d vision monitor (was good when I bought it, bit out of date now).
Whereas yours is all about the screens, mine is really all about the hard disk performance. It really is phenomenal. Windows 7 boots in about 9 secs. I don't ever wait for anything. At all. In Skyrim, on loading screens, I don't get to read more than the first 3 words of the titbits of information that pop up to entertain you while its loading. Which can be annoying, expecially if it was an interesting piece of lore or something. Everyone who's used it had their mind blown, and of course the 3d is great too.
What's your windows performance index? I'm 5.8, just 0.1 off max, very frustrating, my CPU's fault.
