Default Best birthday present ever?!?!

My grandparents moved, so my granddad had nowhere to put his 71 f100 he had worked on for years and owned since the early 80's so he was going to sell it but he called me a couple days before my birthday and asked if he should sell it or give it to me, bet you can't figure out what I said lol. It's not perfect, it has some problems, cosmetic and structural (rust on underside of the bed mostly) but nothing very bad at all, He's done alot to it and put alot of time into it. My uncle even had it when he was stationed in Hawaii in the 90's, probably where the rust came from lol.

That's sweet! Congrats, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Do you have any work you're planning on doing on it immediately?

Thanks, no I won't be doing anything major anytime soon, eventually the rust that's on the bed is going to come back threw the new paint so i would like to replace the bed sometime but I would hate to change anything major like that as soon as he gave it to me, He probably wouldn't care but he's put a lot of time into it so I would feel bad lol.

Thanks! It does look pretty good, especially since this is the only truck/car he's ever really worked on as far as body work, paint, engine, stuff like that that's not just general maintenance.

Good looking truck... will you be driving a lot in it? Just be careful as it does not have shoulder belt and airbags..

Thanks, no it's not a daily driver plus I'm sure it will drink some gas lol. Actually to be honest, and I hate to write it and haven't because people probably won't treat me the same lol, I'm 16 so I wouldn't be driving it that much anyway. Probably going to regret that when nobody listens to me haha.

If I would have had that at the age of 16 I would have sacrificed much to drive it everyday, its a beautiful truck. Drive it all you can while you can cuz someday someone will tell you you need something safer for the kids...

Don't ever get rid of it!
